'King Cole" Grady Earns CWPA Weekly Honors

Bridgeport, PA – Junior driver James Grady (Boca Raton, FL/Boca Raton) was named to the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Player and Rookie of the Week Honor Rolls by the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA).

Grady led the Seahawks offensively for the first time in his career with three goals in Wagner's 18-10 loss to Division III No. 9 John Hopkins. Grady drained the biggest goal of the game early in the third quarter to tie the score 7-7.

The junior transfer continued his offensive prowess, leading the Green & White with three goals in a 13-7 setback against Navy. After almost two scoreless periods, Grady drilled one in the back of the net with two minutes left in the third quarter. The Boca Raton native added two more tallies in the fourth quarter, upping his weekend total to six.

Grady is the fourth-leading scorer on the Seahawk squad with 12 goals while pacing the team with a team-high 22 steals and sprints won with 11.

WHOA.....Apple Cinnamon Rings

They're like Churros but better!!

full recipe:
Serves 6
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 15 to 20 minutes
You’ll Need
– 3 to 4 large Gala apples
– 1 cup all-purpose flour
– ¼ teaspoon baking powder
– 2 tablespoons sugar
– ¼ teaspoon salt
– ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
– 1 large egg, beaten
– 1 cup buttermilk
– Vegetable oil, for frying
Cinnamon Sugar Topping
– ⅓ cup sugar
– 2 teaspoons cinnamon
How To
  1. In a medium-sized bowl, add the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and ¼ teaspoon cinnamon. Set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the egg and buttermilk and mix well.
  3. In a third dish, mix the remaining ⅓ cup sugar and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon and reserve for topping.
  4. Slice apples into ¼-inch slices. Using a biscuit cutter, remove the cores along with the seeds, leaving ¼-inch-wide rings. Pat the apple rings dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  5. Over medium-high heat, heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  6. As the oil heats, combine the flour mixture and the buttermilk mixture together into the batter, mixing well to remove any lumps.
  7. Dip the apple rings, one at a time, into the batter. Tap apple rings against the side of the bowl to remove any excess batter.
  8. Gently place the rings in the hot oil and fry in small batches, turning so that they brown on both sides.
  9. Once the apple rings are golden and crispy, transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.
  10. Dip each apple ring into the cinnamon sugar and coat evenly. Place on a wire cooling rack – setting the fried-and-coated rings on a plate will result in soggy apple rings! – and serve warm.

Hungarian Championship

FINA Men’s World League back to 30 metres

The start of a new international water polo Olympic cycle. Not long after the cheers and excitement of the 2016 Olympic Games sights are now shifting towards a new international season, traditionally kicked off by the European group stage of the FINA Water Polo World League. FINA performed the draw on Wednesday at its office in Lausanne, Switzerland. Without Montenegro, Hungary and Spain the teams will be starting the action on November 15, likely using the occasion to test some younger players who are supposed to make the ‘jump’ to the senior national team en route to the 2020 Olympics. Reigning champion Serbia, winner of the last 4 editions, is the favourite in group A, despite the fact that head coach Dejan Savic will surely come up with some ‘new’ names.
Croatia meets Greece in perhaps the greatest duel for the group’s top spot in this preliminary stage, in group B. Italy can also be considered heavy favourite in group C. The group winners will secure a spot in the Super Final, to be played in June. More importantly, though, as the test phase is over, FINA announced that the field of play for the men will be back to 30 metres, reverting to the picture before the last two editions, where it was cut to a length of just 25 metres as part of a set of new rules, tested by the aquatics world’s governing body.
The field of participants in the women’s tournament is somewhat smaller, but has more top teams present, with only Europe’s number 4, and runners-up of last year’s World League, Spain absent this edition. Group A is highly competitive with Russia, Greece and the Netherlands. In group B the battle for the top spot can be expected to be fought by Italy and Hungary with France as an outsider, further building its team.
