Rosenberg Leads Encantada Over Powerhouse Carolina

When Samantha Rosenberg (Gulliver / Riptides) was invited by the Encantada Water Polo Club to play with them in the Puerto Rican Championships Dec. 11-13 she couldn't refuse knowing she'd have the opportunity to play against the legendary Carolina WPC. Carolina has been the top girls team in Puerto Rico and hadn't been defeated in four years. As Encantada and Carolina moved through their respective brackets a Saturday night semi-final showdown loomed closer. The Entcantada girls were ready to win and wanted this game badly.

Unstoppable from hole-set Rosenberg & her teammates proved to be worthy opponents against Carolina as Rosenberg hammered in goal after goal. With the score 9-8 and 40 seconds left, Rosenberg managed to get a shot off on a 5 on 4 to tie it up. The game goes to a shoot out with Encantada winning the game 13-11. Encantada's victory marked first time any Puerto Rican team had defeated Carolina in a four year stretch.

The Championship game on Sunday was won by Carolina 10-6. Unfortunately Rosenberg did play not due to her scheduled flight back to the States. (We bet Carolina was happy about that)

YCF Orlando Water Polo Ian C. Supra Memorial Game

YCF Water Polo Friends and Family,

As you are all probably aware, Ian Supra lost a courageous battle with esophageal cancer on November 24th. If you followed Ian's battle you know he was what some would call an "old soul," he was wise beyond what you would typically expect from a 20 year old. Ian showed us all how to live while dying. Ian was selfless, everything he did was to help out others fighting cancer. He passed long his courage and strength to countless people.

His family and friends want to continue carrying his torch. YCF Water Polo Club is hosting a holiday youth camp this weekend. The camp features many prominent college coaches as well as former Olympians. At the conclusion of the camp on Sunday, 12/20, YCF Water Polo will host a YCF Alumni Game. We are inviting anyone who has ever played with YCF Water Polo, Orlando Water Polo, Windermere Water Polo, or any other name our team has held over the years to come participate. The game will be from 5pm to 6:30pm, there will be a warm-up allowed at 4:30pm. We are asking for a donation of $10 if you wish to participate in the game, this will go directly to the Ian C. Supra Memorial Foundation. If you are unable to make the game please feel free to donate anyways. Checks can be made out to "Ian C. Supra Memorial Fund" or you can donate using this link.
