Who's The Best In Broward For 2013?

The race for Broward County Players of the Year (PotY) is neck & neck for both boys & girls!

BOYS: RJ Moore
             Eric Goldenberg

          Goldenberg                         Moore

For the second consecutive season the Aquinas teammates & friends square off. Make no mistake about senior & 3 year captain Moore being the heart, soul and core of the Raiders. In 2011 he was chosen as SoFlo Water Polo Blog's Player of the Year only to be upset for the 2012 title by the then freshman Goldenberg. Goldenberg's dominating style of play & gaudy numbers will make him hard to overlook. Both athletes split the newspapers PotY in 2012. This one will come down to the wire.

Also in the running is Cooper City magician Brandon "Boom" Bogumill.

GIRLS: Nikki Jacobs
             Caroline Israels

Israels                             Jacobs

When SoFlo's 2012 Player of the Year Samantha Khalil graduated the door flew wide open for Jacobs & Israels in 2013. Jacobs the captain of Deerfield Beach, is a 4 year starter and the respected leader of the Bucks. Interviewed opposing Broward County coaches called her "a stellar field player" and "outstanding". Israels also a 4 year starter and captain at Westminster Academy racked up outrageous scoring numbers in her first 3 seasons. Due to several WA blowouts in the 2013 season her playing time & goals have diminished slightly. Israels has been the newspapers PotY the past few seasons.

Also in the running is Stoneman Douglas scoring machine Julia Sadar.

NOTE:  You can also make this using sausage, bacon or shrimp.

IRVINE, Calif. - San Diego state sophomore Taelor Moreno was named Big West Women's Water Polo Player of the Week, the league announced Wednesday afternoon. The utility player helped the Aztecs post a 3-0 record a week ago, which included a key conference victory over Long Beach State.
The Miami, Fla., product did most of her damage against the 49ers as she scored a game- and career-high four goals, while adding an assist and a steal in the 6-5 victory. She directly was involved in five of SDSU's six goals and her five-goal involvement equaled Long Beach State's goal production for the game.
The next day in the 11-5 win over Brown at the Aztec Mini, Moreno added three goals on four shot attempts and assisted on two more goals. For the week, Moreno tallied seven goals, which was a team high, three assists and one steal.
This is Moreno's first-career Big West Player-of-the-Week honor and marks the first time since 2004 in which San Diego State has had at least two student-athletes earn player-of-the-week accolades.
